Notes on Design: How to Choose Your Calligraphy Style
Meet Doris Fullgrabe, a Tendr artist and hand-letterer based in Brooklyn. Here are her tips on how to use calligraphy to add a personal touch to your celebration.
1. Decide The Vibe
“It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it” also applies to calligraphy styles. Below are some examples that will help you define your preference.
2. Choose a Tool
The same handwriting is given a much different expression using a ballpoint pen, or a nib and ink, or a brush. Once you choose the right tool, you can also experiment with ink color to make it extra special.
3. Make It Your Own
Once you know the rules, don't be afraid to break them. Mix and match to your heart’s content!
